Project Summary

Augmented Reality has become a mainstream technology for the younger generation, and has many applications such as gaming, wayfinding and tourism. However, many older adults are slower in their uptake of technology and may not use it to its’ full potential. This means that they may be excluded from some activities due to their lack of familiarity and barriers to the use of rapidly changing technology.

The aim of this project is to investigate the use of augmented reality in museum spaces, which are often frequented by older adults. Museums are a public space that is cross-generational and one in which technology is increasingly playing a major role in the visitor experience.
